THE TEAM
1. All Toronto Masters players must attain
their 21st birthday in the year they compete.
2. Maximum number of dressed players per team
is 14 per game plus 1 goalie
3. An individual can not play for more than
one team during the season or playoffs. Goalies
may play for
another team if the regular goalie is injured
or absent.
THE GAME AND EQUIPMENT
1. The game will be a maximum of 3-15 minute
periods, with a 1 minute rest period between
periods and will be strait time except for
the last 2 minutes of the third which will
be stop time if the goal differential is 3
goals or less. There is no overtime for regular
season games.
2. There will be a 5 -second possession rule
applied. This rule is waived if the player
RECEIVES THE
BALL ON A BREAKAWAY WITH ONLY THE GOALTENDER
TO BEAT.
3. All players, excluding the goalie, must
wear the same coloured sweaters.
4. Helmets with face shield/cage and gloves
are mandatory (CSA APPROVED).
5. All goaltender equipment worn above the
waist (except the helmet) must be fully covered
by the
sweater. Sweaters must conform to the body
of the goaltender (no extra material under
the arms ) and
not to exceed past the inseam.
6. There will be no stick measurements, only
box regulation sticks allowed.
7. The end of the stick’s shaft must
be covered with a plastic or tape knob.
8. Any equipment considered dangerous by the
referee will be removed immediately.
REGULAR SEASON
During the regular season the scoring system
will be as follows:
i.
Points will be awarded for only a win or tie.
ii.
Two (2) points shall be awarded for a win.
iii.
One (1) for a tie.
The teams will be rated by the most points
to the least number of points, therefore most
points being #1, next
#2 and so forth.

TIE BREAKERS FOR PLAYOFFS
1. 5 Minute Sudden Death Overtime
2. Penalty Shots (Groups of Five from Each
Team)
PLAYOFF FORMAT
1. each team will play all other teams in
league once over five weeks
2.The scoring system will be as follows
i. two points will be awarded for a win
ii. no points for a loss
iii. if there is a tie after regular time
there will be a five minute sudden Death period
played if nothing is decided after that it
will go to penalty shots groups of three until
someone is declared the winner
iiii. if there is a tie between teams at the
end of the five game playoff round robin the
tie breaker will be as follows
-least penalty minutes
-goals against ratio
-goals for ratio
-head to head
3. the finals will be as follows
1st place vrs 2nd place
3rd place vrs 4th place
5th place vrs 6th place
PENALTIES AND VIOLATIONS
1. The first player to a loose ball along
the boards is awarded possession.
2. The ball carrier may not run past more
than ONE player when ADVANCING TOWARDS THE
NET.
Loss of possession.
3. No team may use a ZONE DEFENSE when teams
are at even strength. First time is a warning.
Any
subsequent ZONE defence will result in a Bench
Minor Penalty to the Defensive team. This
does not
pertain to lateral movement across the floor.
4. Possession of the ball will be awarded
the opponent of the team who last to touched
the ball before
going out of bounds.
5. Team in possession retains possession for
restart after stoppage for ANY injury.
6. Face-offs: Only the players facing off
may step into the face-off circle or be within
the restraining lines
before the ball leaves the face-off circle,
or is in possession of a player.
Face-off players may not kick, hit, hold,
or step on the stick of an opponent.
Face-off players may PIN the ball in the two
foot circle. Non-face-off players may reach
into the
restraining zone for the ball, but must not
play the stick of either face-off player.
Any infraction will result
in the non-offending team having possession
at the centre.
7. After a penalty is assessed to a player,
play shall resume with the non-offending team
having
possession at centre.
8. The team must move the ball out of their
defensive zone within 10 seconds. Otherwise,
change of
possession will occur at centre.
9. SHOOTING THROUGH A CROWD / DANGEROUS SHOT
RULE; No deliberate hard shots are to be
directed through a crowd. Loss of possession.
Players are encouraged to go around an opponent
before shooting. A player moving towards the
net must be a step around the defender before
attempting the shot and must have a clear
shooting lane to the net, if the shooter is
stationary the
shooter must be a body length away from the
defensive player and must have a clear shooting
lane to
the net. This rule pertains only to outside
the Dangerous Shot Line (24 ft) dotted line.
10. penalized teams must move
ball over center within 10 seconds or possesion
will be awarded to opposite team.
11. Any Offensive player hitting a Defensive
player with the ball or with their stick during
a follow through a
SHOT towards the goal will be assessed a 2
Minute Minor Penalty. NOTE It is not a penalty
if the
Defensive player is hit with the shot while
he is in the crease, or if the Defensive Player
makes a
deliberate move to stop the shot and is hit
with the ball.
12. In the event of a Follow-Through Penalty
on a shot, any goal scored WILL NOT count.
13. Within the Dangerous Shot Line (24ft)
dotted line, the "SHOOTING THROUGH A
CROWD /
DANGEROUS SHOT RULE" (8) does not apply.
14. A team on a Power play may shoot through
the lanes of a ZONE defence.
15. There is absolutely NO DELIBERATE STICK
OR BODY CONTACT.
i) No Offensive or Defensive Picks.
ii) Defensive player moving his stick to strike
an opponent's stick.
iii) Defensive player bumping opponent on
the way to the net or pushing him with his
hands. (With
defensive player hands on or off the stick)
iv) Offensive player running recklessly into
a stationary defender resulting in heavy contact.
THESE ARE EXAMPLES ONLY, NOT ALL INCLUSIVE.
ANY DELIBERATE CONTACT OR
DANAGEROUS BEHAVIOUR FROM ANYWHERE ON THE
FLOOR WILL BE PENALIZED AS A
MATCH PENALTY.
16. An Interference Penalty will be assessed
to any player who deliberately holds his stick
in the face of his
opponent.
17. Any Unsportsmanlike Penalty will result
in a Penalty Shot. Penalized player does not
go to the penalty
box, but the penalty does count towards the
3 penalty expulsion rule. If no goal is scored,
play will
restart with possession to the non-offending
team at centre. ANY FOUL LANGAUGE WILL BE
DEEMED AS UNSPORTMANLIKE BEHAVIOUR!
18. No team will be more than one player short
as a result of penalties. Any subsequent Penalties
shall
result in Penalty Shots being awarded to the
non-offending team. If the second penalty
is a Major
Penalty, 2 shots will be taken. The second
penalty is recognized when the whistle blows
to stop any
delayed penalty. If no goal is scored, play
will restart with possession to the non-offending
team at
centre.
19. Any penalties on the ball carrier during
a breakaway shall result in a Penalty Shot.
If no goal is scored,
play will restart with possession to the non-offending
team at centre.
20. Any player receiving 3 penalties in the
game will be expelled from the balance of
the game.
21. The offensive team caught with too many
players on a fast break, the play will be
stopped and play
restarted with possession to the non-offending
team. The defensive team caught with too many
men
will result in a minor penalty.
22. Any player receiving a Major Penalty will
be expelled from the game PLUS the game following.
If the
expulsion takes place in the last game of
the season, the suspension carries over to
the next scheduled
game. The non-offending team will be awarded
two penalty shots.
23. Two different players on the same team
receive a minor penalty, one penalty is served
and a penalty
shot is awarded to the non-offending team.
If no goal is scored, play is restarted with
possession to the
non-offending team at centre. If a major and
a minor penalty are assessed two penalty shots
are
awarded for the major, and the minor is served.
If no goal is scored on the second shot, play
will restart
with possession to the non-offending team
at centre.
24. Any player receiving a match penalty will
be immediately suspended until the incident
is reviewed by
the Toronto Masters Lacrosse League Executive.
The non-offending team will be awarded two
penalty
shots.
25. Any player penalized for fighting and
deemed to be the aggressor, will be expelled
from the Toronto
Masters Lacrosse League.
26. there will be a 30 second
shot clock started once a team gains possesion
of the ball, the team will have this time
to gain a shot on the opposing teams net,
if this does not occur in the time frame the
team will lose posession of ball, the 30 second
shot clock will be reset once a shot has been
taken on net and the team will gain another
30 seconds with the ball.
